Root canal treatment and restorative dentistry are closely related fields within dental care, often working together to save and repair damaged teeth. A root canal, also known as endodontic therapy, is a procedure used to treat infection or damage within the pulp—the soft tissue inside the tooth that contains nerves and blood vessels. When a tooth becomes severely decayed or infected, a root canal is performed to remove the infected pulp, clean and shape the inside of the root canals, and then fill and seal the space with a biocompatible material. This procedure not only relieves pain but also prevents the spread of infection and helps save the natural tooth.
